Course 2152 - Supporting MS
Windows 2000 Professional & Server
This course will guide students through
the installation of the Windows 2000 Server and Windows
2000 Professional operating systems on a member server
and workstation, respectively. Once the operating systems
are installed, students will administer the two operating
systems first as part of a workgroup and then part of
a domain.
Course Objectives
After you have finished this course,
you will learn the following:
- Install Windows 2000 Server
and Professional, upgrade process from Windows 9x
and Windows NT, and prepare for an unattended installation.
- Investigate and understand
the Windows 2000 boot process.
- Install Plug and Play and legacy
hardware, use Device Manager to configure hardware
devices, customise a Windows 2000 installation, and
add and remove software and operating system updates.
- Create partitions on basic
disks, upgrade basic disks to dynamic disks, defragment
a hard disk, and use NTFS file compression.
- Create and manage users and
groups in a Windows 2000 workgroup.
- Secure files with NTFS security,
and analyze the interaction between share permissions
and NTFS security.
- Configure DNS and DHCP clients,
and join a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain.
- Create and manage users and
groups in an Active Directory domain, and create and
assign user profiles.
- Connect to a Novell NetWare
network using Gateway and Client Services for NetWare.
- Use the Distributed File System,
set and manage disk quotas, create user home folders,
configure Offline Files, and encrypt files and folders.
- Create a local printer, connect
to a network printer, manage network printing, and
connect to a network printer through the web.
- Use Event Viewer to analyze
network information, use Performance Monitor to analyze
network activity, and optimise network and server
performance.
- Define Windows 2000 fault tolerance
features, use the Windows 2000 Backup utility, and
create mirrored and RAID-5 volumes.
- Install and configure a Terminal
Services server and client, establish a terminal session,
and remotely administer a user session using Terminal
Services.
Course 2153 - Supporting a Network
Infrastructure using MS Windows 2000
This course will teach you how to
install and configure the components that make up the
network infrastructure on a Windows 2000 network. For
example, you are going to learn how to install, configure,
and maintain DNS, DHCP, WINS, and RAS servers. You will
also learn how to implement IP routing and security
for the TCP/IP protocol. Finally, you willl learn how
to manage and trouble shoot your network through such
utilities as Network Monitor.
Course Objectives
After you have finished this course,
you will learn the following:
- Identify the components of
the Windows 2000 network infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain
a DHCP server.
- Design, install, and configure
a DNS server for host name resolution.
- Implement a WINS server for
NetBIOS name resolution.
- Install and configure a RAS
server to support dial-up and Virtual Private Networking
connections.
- Design and implement RAS security
and RAS policies.
- Configure static, dynamic,
and dial-on-demand IP routers.
- Secure the TCP/IP protocol
through certificates and IPSec.
- Implement Internet Connection
Sharing and an Internet Connection Server (router).
- Configure an Internet Information
Server.
- Manage the Windows 2000 network
through Terminal Services, Remote Installation Services,
and the SNMP protocol.
- Troubleshoot a Windows 2000
network with utilities such as Network Monitor.
070-028 - Administering Microsoft
SQL Server 7.0
This course gives you comprehensive
view of the database system. This includes SQL Server
Architecture, Services, Setup & Configuring, Administration
and Troubleshooting. It covers all the admin tasks within
SQL Server, such as setup, security, data file management,
data transfer, backup and restore, automating tasks,
data replication, performance monitoring, troubleshooting,
etc.
070-029 - Designing and Implementing
Databases with SQL Server 7.0
This course reveals what is inside
the database and how you can manipulate the database.
The course covers data modelling, normalization, physical
data storage, physical design, index, retrieve and modifying
data, general programmability (T-SQL), triggers, view,
stored procedure, etc. It is a pre-requisite of programming
for database. As a database analyst, you use programming
language (such as VB) to build client/server application.
The application relies on database platform (such as
MSSQL Server) to be executed.
